Theater with stage and ruins of backstage buildings. The theater held 15,000 at the city's peak of development. The original Greek portion of the theater seen in this photo was built in the 1st century B.C. The upper Roman portion (not restored and not pictured) was built in the 2nd century A.D. Ancient Aphrodicisias, Turkey.
